1451 Posts | Went to the park today on Memorial Day... It wasn't as busy as I thought it would be (thankfully.) The water park did get pretty busy in the afternoon.
There is finally a new feature/attraction where the life-sized Darth Vader & R2 models used to be (in front of the Studio Store.) It's this giant music box cylinder thing.
Also, there's a few new models on the Dragon coaster. Some of them are outside in the coaster area too. Glad to see it get improvements!
As you probably know, the Duplo Valley area is open now and this has totally changed the walking paths. Now you HAVE to go through Duplo Valley to get to Lego Kingdoms. Which means extra walking if you no interest in Duplo... You have to go all the way out to Chima and then all the way back. (Well, there is still that secret pathway over by the bathrooms.)
Also, doesn't like much has been done to repair the models. They don't look any better. I went through Miniland and noticed how they are deteriorating too. Some of them actually look BETTER that way (like the Supreme Court building) because it gives them more detail. But many of them are just looking run-down. Really didn't think it would take only 2 years before everything would have to be redone...
Also, on the way out I noticed some of the painted color squares on the ground were looking bad. I really think they need a crew to do repairs like this EVERY DAY. When the park looks bad it leaves an impression. That's why Disney has a crew that takes care of these type of issues on a daily basis. Legoland should follow suit.

--Guest-- | I noticed the same thing about the painted squares. They're just inside the entrance to park which doesn't create a very good first impression. How much money would it take to repaint them?
There are a couple of other changes: Capt. Brickbeard's Burgers has been closed for awhile. There's a sign that says it's a seasonal restaurant. Also, the Lego Factory Tour is also closed--it's now used by the Lego Master Builders. If you peek through the clear sections on the door, you can sometimes see them working on new models. |

That actually sounds better than the cheesy Factory they had before. They should open that up more so the guests can see the model builders create stuff. And then have the model builder come out once in awhile to talk with guests.
(I did notice a spot in Miniland that read "Meet a Master Builder at 1pm and 3pm.") | | |

--Guest-- | I'd still like to see them convert the Lego Factory to a Minifigure land. It would be similar to the train display at the old Cypress Gardens, except all the buildings would be made from Legos at a scale appropriate for the Lego Minifigures. Children would really enjoy watching the trains wend their way through the different minifigure dioramas. The Minifigure Market store could then swap places with the Pick a Brick store to better capitalize on the new display. |

--Guest-- | The park recently added a new feature in the northern end of the Magnolia Mansion called Buddy's Character Corner. They also added some outdoor play features (hula hoops, bowling pins, etc.) in the circular area just outside the mansion where the giant Christmas tree used to be displayed. WINTER HAVEN, FL (WFLA) -
On Tuesday, Legoland has announced a new way for guests to meet and mingle with their favorite Lego characters, titled Buddy's Character Corner!
The new experience is based in the historic Magnolia Mansion inside the Fun Town section of Legoland Florida Resort. Families visiting now have the opportunity to interact with fan-favorites Buddy, Max, the Lego Friends and even Emmet from The Lego Movie.
Children and parents are able to take cool photos with the characters in front of various Lego backgrounds, as well. Other character meet and greet opportunities still take place throughout the park.
The Magnolia Mansion, originally opened in 1941 and part of Cypress Gardens in various forms throughout the later 1900s, was restored in preparation of the new experience. Previously used for Legoland meetings, the addition of Buddy's Character Corner adds to attractions found under cover, and in air conditioning.
The announcement comes after the resort released details on the Legoland Hotel, slated to open next summer. The five story Lego themed hotel will feature 152 brightly colored and highly themed rooms and suites, thousands of Lego models and interactive play areas.

--Guest-- | A fairly large portion of land adjacent to the Lego Technic area has been partitioned off to include the area where the food trailers used to be...the park will be building a new indoor restaurant at this location.
I heard awhile back the park plans on building another ice cream shop at the rear of the park--perhaps it will be built in the partitioned area or be part of the new restaurant (if they still plan on adding one).
On another note, construction of Heartlake City is underway...the area is partitioned off and the greenhouse has recently been demolished. |

1451 Posts | Sad about the greenhouse being demolished. But LL, did give it a shot! It's just that agriculture has a very limited appeal for kids in an amusement park.
About time they started working on the Technic area. Actually, I'm eager to see what they do with the space between Technic and Coastersaurus. | | |

--Guest-- | The concrete block walls for the new restaurant have been installed...I heard it's going to be a hamburger type venue. Work has also progressed on the new ice cream shop which is adjacent to the fried chicken restaurant. It also looks like they might be enclosing the outdoor eating area outside the Panini shop so it will be climate controlled. |

--Guest-- | The park is FINALLY going to install some shade barriers over the front of the ticket windows. Guests won't have to stand in the scorching sun while waiting to purchase tickets...this should have been done years ago! I guess it's better late than never.
The new wall that encloses the eating area outside the panini shop also runs along the length of the Imagination Zone building...it looks like they'll probably be expanding the Imagination Zone play area.
A little correction to an earliest post I made...the partitioned area for the new restaurant doesn't include the food trailers. The food trailers are still present in front of the Coastersauraus. The new restaurant is to the right of the food trailers (as you look at them from the front). |

--Guest-- | The new ice cream shop called "Firehouse Ice cream" is now opened. It's located adjacent to the Rescue Academy and is themed to look like a fire station. It does have some limited indoor seating but it's not overly cool inside since they have two large garage-type sliding doors opened which lets a lot of the cold air escape.
The new restaurant called "Lego City Burger Kitchen" is also opened and has an ample amount of indoor seating to escape from the hot Florida sun. That was a big complaint from many guests about the lack of air conditioned places at the rear of the park.
The park has also announced that Heartlake City will be opening on June 26th. The preliminary artwork gave me the impression that the attractions were going to be outdoors. However, the park is constructing new buildings which indicates most of the attractions will be indoors except for the new ride. The curved halfpipe track for the new ride has already been installed. |

1451 Posts | I was at the park last Monday and visited the Burger Kitchen and Ice Cream shop. They are both themed nicely! However, I was hoping the Burger Kitchen would have an "add your own toppings" bar like the Starlight Cafe at Magic Kingdom.
Yes, Heartlake City will be done soon as well! They are building quite a large structure for it. Indoors it appears. I originally thought it was a stage, but it might be an indoor theatre? Not sure.
Also, it's pretty funny to see a Disc'O there again after the original prototype was at Cypress Gardens! | | |
