Fresh from Florida by Sean2012-03-24 14:21:07

The Fresh from Florida exhibit is now open. It has some miniature lego exhibits such as a farm, an orchard, and a fruit market. I think the exhibit could be improved with some additional informational signs and more hands-on exhibits to make it more educational. It looks nice inside, but I must confess I liked the old butterfly conservatory better.

The park also added a new Batman & Robin lego model in the Imagination Zone area...they should be a hit with young boys. The ice cream shop across from the pizza buffet is now open...so is the pulled-pork trailer. The other trailer sells something called a Waffle Spear--it looks like a waffle on a stick that you can have garnished with various toppings.

There is a scavenger hunt activity set up in the gardens where guests try to find 6 lego animals placed within the gardens. If they find all the animals they can win a small prize. I don't know if this is a long term activity or if it was set up just for the "Lego Friends" weekend special.

Are you Shute they're not groves instead of orchards? It's a common mistake confusing orchards and groves. I once heard a Louisiana news station call the orange growers in Florida orange farmers and that the oranges grow in orchards.

An orchard is ground planted with fruit trees. A grove is a group of trees standing together. An orange grove is an orchard of orange trees. Maybe they should have a sign in the Fresh from Florida exhibit explaining all this.

Thank you for the update, Sean! I am sure the scavenger hunt is only for this special event, but it would be nice to see LEGOLAND retaining this fun activity, and maybe even expand the number of LEGO models in the gardens!

You say orchard, I say grove - an orange tree by any other name is still an orange tree. Kind of think 2 to 12 year olds and most parents couldn't care less.

They've added some live Koi fish to the pool area of the Fresh from Florida exhibit. I also noticed there's another button you can push to have water come out of a hose held by a lego gardener. The exhibit is definitely worth a visit.

There's a new outdoor area called "Learn & Grow" located adjacent to the greenhouse. It's an educational exhibit that talks about Florida's natural resources. It's not too big but does have some new Lego displays to look at.

I was there a few weeks ago and saw them building it, but I haven't been back to see it completed. Thanks for the update!

The Fresh from Florida greenhouse is closed and has black tarp concealing the interior from view. The park also begun removing the "Learn and Grow" exhibit adjacent to the greenhouse. I heard the greenhouse will be removed after the holidays and a new attraction will be constructed in its place.

Hm, well that's disappointing, but not unexpected. It didn't get a lot of traffic...

Wonder what they will be building there? Maybe a sit-down restaurant? Just a wild guess...

I heard the Lego Friends store will eventually be moved into the Garden Shop--maybe the new attraction will tie into that theme somehow.

The former Capt. Brickbeard's Burgers next to the ski show stadium has been renamed the Imagination Pavilion. I heard this is a new area where school groups can eat their lunches. Previously, the area behind the Southern Mansion was designated for school groups. This move is probably in response to the upcoming construction activity that will occur at the former "Fresh from Florida" exhibit.

As mentioned in the previous post, it sounds like the new area will be similar to the Heartlake City attraction slated to open this year at the California park. Rumor has it that the new attraction will have a Rockin' Tug type ride. I expect there will be an official announcement made shortly that will outline the details.

Below is a portion from the Orlando Attractions Magazine that talks about the Heartlake city expansion. The main attraction is a Disk'o Coaster (too bad the old park sold its Disk'o Coaster before Legoland purchased the park).

“When it opens in summer of 2015, Heartlake City will be a colorful and vibrant new land offering adventures for all ages,” said Jones. “The centerpieces will include a fantastic horse-themed disc coaster called Mia’s Riding Adventure and an interactive show, ‘Friends to the Rescue’ as well as new shops inside Heartlake Mall. Between our constant expansion, the new Legoland Hotel opening in May and the Water Park re-opening in March, Legoland Florida Resort is definitely a multi-day destination.”
